I help younger and older people to regain a quality of life. You must be ready to take charge of your rehabilitation because your personal work will allow you to achieve your goals more quickly. I will support you throughout your process.

In my experience, children 6 years old and over are old and mature enough to respond well to speech therapy, but obviously this depends on each child. If your child is younger, you should contact me by email, and we'll see what can be done.

Please note that you don't need a referral from a doctor to consult in speech therapy. If something worries or bothers you about your voice or your oral-motor sphere, I will be happy to help you.

Your symptoms:

Constant or irregular loss of voice or at specific time in the day
Sore throat or strange feeling in your throat when you speak
Difficulty making yourself heard in noisy or quiet places
Abnormal variation in your voice (too high, too low, a mix of both)
Tremors in your voice
Difficulty singing
Or any other symptoms that worries you about your voice

Voice disorders have many origins (nodules, vocal fatigue, laryngitis, paralysis of the vocal fold, etc.) and the manifest differently in each person. To be sure, it is recommended to see an ENT before consulting in speech therapy. This specialist doctor will be able to look at your vocal folds and tell you what the best course of action is.

Subsequently, the SLP will carry out a perceptual, instrumental and acoustic evaluation of your voice in order to have initial mesurements and be able to advise on the best intervention suited for you.

Voice assessment includes:

The evaluation session
A report and an intervention plan
Explanation of the results and conclusion
Transmission of your results to your ENT and another professional (e.g. teacher) if necessary
The start of therapy: agreement on the intervention methods with the SLP, demonstration of the first exercises. You will leave ready to begin your therapy.

Rate: $300

*Travel costs may be applied it the SLP must travel outside of Saguenay to perform the assessment. They will be given to you before planning the evaluation session.

The tongue pushes againt the teeth which prevent the orthodontic treatment to do its job

Dufficulty swallowing certains food or textures or pills
Or any other symptoms that make you worry about your oral-motor sphere

Orofacial myofunctional disorder is often described as an atypical swallowing, (swallowing food or liquids in an immature manner), lisp or inadequate tongue position at rest. Often, it is pointed out by your dentist at first, but it is possible that other professional (like a teacher) will mention it to you.

After assessing your oral motor mechanism, swallowing and speech, the SLP will be able to draw up an action plan with you so that you can learn all the right motor patterns.

The OMD assessment includes:

The evaluation session
A report and an intervention plan
Explanation of the results and conclusion
Transmission of your results to your dentist and another professional (e.g. teacher) if necessary
The start of therapy: agreement on the intervention methods with the SLP, demonstration of the first exercises. You will leave ready to begin your therapy.

For now, two choices are available to you regarding the intervention methods

Online and live therapy using a videoconferencing platform
- Generally, meetings last 30 or 45 minutes (to be confirmed with the SLP during the assessment)
Hybrid follow-up using the Signal application (instant messaging) and 30-minute online and live occasional meetings
- Hybrid follow-up includes two (2) communications from the SLP per week. After 4 to 6 weeks, a online and live meeting will be scheduled with you to review your exercises and your progress.

Given the nature of voice and swallowing rehabilitation, you will have to do daily exercises at home in order to achieve your goals. To make your task easier, you will have access to your exercise plan thanks to the Wibbi platform where you can see the exercises in images and video. 45-minute intervention: $90
Hybrid follow-up: $40 / week
